You can paint cabinets if you’ve properly prepared them beforehand. If your cabinets are made of Formica, you’ll need to scour them with sandpaper until they feel slightly rough. Once they’re abraded, you should add a coat of latex or acrylic primer. If the cabinets are stained, use a shellac primer instead. Finish the primed cabinets with either latex or acrylic paint.

Tips & Warnings
• For a smoother finish, use a polyester paintbrush; nylon brushes may leave marks in the finish.
• For best results use a spray rig to apply the primer and paint.
