How to Get Skinny Fast: Weight-loss StudyBy Paul A. Achoa on April 2, 2012 with 0 Comments
As the weather warms, Americans shed their heavy coats in favor of lighter clothing that leaves less to the imagination. Unfortunately, this often leaves many feeling insecure about the winter fat they piled on over the holidays. The spring is a big month for weight-loss companies, who claim to offer all sorts of pills and products that can hasten fat-loss. Sadly, these fad diets often turn out to be a waste of money. That said, new research appears to point toward a very simple way dieters can attain quicker results. If you want to know how to get skinny fast, learn what this new study discovered.
Study Yields Surprising Results
Recently, researchers at the University of Scranton conducted a study to determine if green unroasted coffee beans had the ability to aid weight-loss. Funded by Applied Food Sciences, which manufactures a green coffee supplement, the study worked with 16 overweight subjects over a 22-week period. Half the participants were given green coffee beans in supplement form, while the other half received placebos. At the conclusion of the study, the researchers noted that those who consumed the supplement lost more weight than those who did not. The results were especially striking, since all of the subjects ate and exercised about the same.
A Way to Get Skinny Fast?
Typically, caffeine-rich foods have the ability to encourage faster weight-loss by suppressing the appetite; however, according to lead researcher Joe Vinson, PhD, caffeine isn’t suspected to have helped much in this case. Instead, he suspects the Chlorogenic acid within the beans may have been the culprit. Vinson says this natural organic compound may have the ability to lower blood glucose levels, which tends to enhance fat-loss and prevent weight gain.
What Consumers Should Know
Although Vinson’s study may appear exciting on its surface, experts want to see more studies before they begin endorsing green coffee beans as an effective dieting supplement. In this case, the research focused on very few participants for a relatively short amount of time. According to Vinson, he is planning a larger study involving more than 60 subjects in the near future. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a way to get skinny fast, you’re best bet is to eat high-fiber foods that have a low glycemic index. This has proved to be an effective way to lower blood glucose levels, which inevitably encourages faster fat-loss. That said, according to Vinson, none of his study’s participants reported any negative side-effects; so if you want to give green coffee bean supplements a try, there appears to be little risk. Just remember to buy the unroasted variety; as high temperatures may damage the Chlorogenic acid found within raw varieties.
